Innovation can be a scary word. For most of us, it conjures images of leaving the familiar behind, and learning to think in a whole new way. But in fact, most of us are innovators at work and in our lives - for we are always seeking new and better ways to satisfy our needs. The end product of innovation is improvement, whether that means more money, more time, more productivity, or more gratification for our efforts.

Municipal Insighting Sessions Underway

Communities of Tomorrow has co-hosted a number of municipal innovation sessions with municipal leaders and staff across Saskatchewan, intended to assist them in kick-starting the development of innovative approaches to their infrastructure challenges.

"This idea grew out of our efforts to develop a municipal innovation network in Saskatchewan," says CT President John Lee. "The people we talked to in our cities and towns told us that just getting innovative thinking on the agenda could be a challenge, so we decided to see if we could help."[Read more]

Communities of Tomorrow Seeking New Project Partners

Now is an excellent time to submit new innovation project funding applications to Communities of Tomorrow.

"While funding is only one part of what we do, it is an important service," says Communities of Tomorrow President, John Lee. "To date we have provided funding to over 100 project partners to develop their innovative infrastructure concepts." [Read more]

Mainstream Water Solutions Tests New Technology

Communities of Tomorrow is assisting Mainstream Water Solutions in field-testing its unique arsenic removal system for drinking water in small communities.

The arsenic removal technology is one part of a suite of water treatment products developed by the Mainstream team.  During this field test the system will be put to work on the water supply of the village of Kanata Valley.  Completing this project will allow them to enhance the current water recycling system and will also provide them with a secondary stand alone product.
