Water Technology Report Now Available

Communities of Tomorrow is making available a wide-ranging report which examines the technical and commercial market aspects of technologies being applied to potable water usage around the world.

The report was prepared for CT by NovaTec Consultants, an environmental engineering and research company based in Vancouver.

“Water and wastewater are critical areas of focus for CT,” said Communities of Tomorrow Vice President of Innovation and Business Development, JP Martin.
“We wanted to know more in terms of water technologies, and what market potential exists for the water-based innovations that will be generated in Saskatchewan.”

The NovaTec report is broad in scope, examining the current state of potable water demands on four continents, and the technology now in place and required for future needs. It also looks into water and waste water management systems being employed to increase water conservation, alternative water supply systems, and water re-use.

NovaTec conducted in-depth interviews with dozens of experts in this field, including representatives of various levels of government, industrial firms, and those engaged in water management research. They also carefully researched public attitudes to water conservation and management.

The resulting report provides an overview of water system technologies and research, a compilation of the groups that are heavily engaged in this field, and a needs-list for new research in the field.

“Anyone engaged in water management, the industrial side of water and waste water infrastructure or water systems research, will be interested in the report,” said JP Martin. “It is a really comprehensive survey on what areas are ripe for innovative approaches.”

The report will be used to help guide Communities of Tomorrow in its work with Saskatchewan’s municipalities, companies, and researchers in the water sector.
