Message from the President

With municipalities right here at home and around the world on the front line of an incredible infrastructure challenge, CT is building partnerships between researchers, entrepreneurs and municipalities that help them bring their ideas for innovative infrastructure products and technologies to life. Software Program Analyzes Sewer Videos

A sewer may not be the most likely star for a movie, but Saskatchewan municipalities have been collecting videos of the infrastructure for the past forty years. Using a camera mounted on a robot, the inside of a sewer is filmed using closed circuit television (CCTV). CCTV operators view the film to determine whether there any structural defects in the sewer, such as cracks, displaced joints, surface corrosion, and tree root penetration. [Read more]

Communities of Tomorrow at Toronto Conference

President John Lee took the message of Communities of Tomorrow to the “Future of Canada’s Infrastructure” annual conference in Toronto on September 29th and 30th.  Lee made a major presentation to the conference, which brings together representatives of federal, provincial and municipal governments and infrastructure industry experts.  He was joined on the podium by Kim Sare, Sustainable Communities Coordinator for the City of Regina. Registration Now Open for “Linkages 2009”

The Saskatchewan Environmental Industry Managers Association (SEIMA) is now accepting registrations for their “Linkages 2009” conference in Regina.  The conference is scheduled for Monday, January 12th, 2009 and will take place at the Regina Inn and Conference Centre. The event is being held in conjunction with “Innovation to Enterprise” which is hosted by the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) Regina Campus and the University of Regina.

The Linkages conference is an opportunity for technology researchers and innovators, companies, and investors to come together for a discussion of the potential to develop and commercialize technologies related to innovative sustainable infrastructure.

New U of R President Welcomed to CT Board

Communities of Tomorrow is pleased to welcome Dr. Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Timmons was announced as the new President of the University in May and has already shown herself to be a champion of the University’s various multi-sectoral endeavours. [Read more]
