Exactly 25 years after the launch of the groundbreaking K bikes, BMW has unveiled the newest generation of this line of powerful inline-four machines. The new K bikes sport a larger displacement, now with 1,293 cc, and an array of new enhancements and features. The 2009 K 1300 S, the most powerful street legal BMW, now offers 175 hp and the torque has been bumped by 7.5 ft-lb to a very impressive 103 ft-lb at 8250 rpm.

During the weekend of 6-7 September at Summit Point Motorsports Park racetrack in West Virginia, Kern cemented his tremendous showing throughout the season by grabbing the National ASRA CCS Pro Thunderbike Championship on his proven BMW R 1200 S race motorcycle. >> read more
Parriott Wins Open Twins Championship
The famed BMW racer Brian Parriott who finished 6th in BMW HP2 Sport's inaugural US race at the 2008 Daytona 200, has won the championship in the AFM (American Federation of Motorcyclists) Formula Open Twins series. Brian has had a solid season racing the BMW’s race-ready HP2 Sport for the San Jose BMW team on the West Coast, defeating the HP2 Sport's main challenger Ducati's new 1098 series. We congratulate San Jose BMW and Brian Parriott for this new AFM championship. Look for a complete report on Parriott’s championship in our next issue.
Success for BMW at Bonneville Salt Flats
BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials at the iconic Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah have been growing steadily since their inception in 2004.
