United States Census 2010
What is the Census? The United States Census, as required by the U.S. Constitution, is a count of everyone living in the United States every 10 years. All U.S. residents must be counted – both citizens and non-citizens.
When is the Census? The next Census is April 1, 2010. The U.S. Census Bureau will mail or deliver census questionnaires in March 2010
to every resident in the United States and Puerto Rico.
It’s Easy! The head of household must complete and mail back their questionnaire upon receipt. Households that do not respond may receive a replacement questionnaire in early April. Census takers will visit households that do not return questionnaires to take a count in person.
It’s Quick! It takes less than 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. Census questionnaires are not available for completion online. Federal law requires participation in the U.S. Census.
It’s Safe! Your personal information is confidential and protected by law.
It’s Important! Your participation is needed. Returning your form can bring additional funding to the City of Casselberry and Seminole County. Funding for roadway improvements, schools, health care, and many other services is beneficial to our community’s quality of life. Census data also determines the number of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and is used for redrawing state and local legislative districts.
If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don’t know into your home. For more information, please visit www.2010.census.gov or www.seminolecountyfl.gov/Census2010 |

Florida's Urban and Community Forestry Grant Project
Recently, the City of Casselberry completed a Florida’s Urban and Community Forestry (U&CF) Grant Project. This $10.000 grant award project provided the City with financial assistance for a cost-share enhanced urban and community forestry program that restored the shorelines of two community parks, Lake Concord Park and Secret Lake Park, with 38 native trees. The types of trees planted in these two parks were Bald Cypress, Red Maple, Loblolly Bay and Live Oak. The trees selected for the planting project are native to Florida and rated high to medium for wind resistance
.The City has previously completed grant projects from the Urban & Community Forestry Program. The first grant project, received in 2001, helped the City develop a comprehensive tree program. The second project, the 2005 Urban & Community Forestry Hurricane Emergency Grant, provided 400 new trees to replace trees that were damaged or destroyed by the hurricanes of 2004. It also provided funding for corrective pruning of trees throughout city parks. The most recent grant project not only helped the City replant the shoreline with the native wetland tree species, it also helped remove invasive and hazardous trees as well.
As a designated Tree City USA for a 3rd year in a row and a recent recipient of the Tree City USA Growth Award, the City is fully committed to promoting and protecting the trees that improve the beauty and the livability of Casselberry. The City looks forward to participating in future Urban and Community Forestry Grant Programs that will continue to help create and maintain a beautiful tree canopy that will be enjoyed for many years to come. |
